Panchkula Mercedes robbery case cracked with arrest of two
The police’s Crime Branch-26 arrested two habitual offenders involved in the high-profile Mercedes car robbery case. The arrest was made from the Madhwala bus stand.
On July 2, complainant Arif Shaikh filed a report at the Sector 5 police station, stating that on July 1, while travelling to Mohali in his Mercedes, two unknown men intercepted his car near Peer Baba, Secto 3. They forcibly entered his vehicle and drove him towards the Pinjore-Nalagarh stretch, where they robbed him of his car, two mobile phones, a wristwatch, and a gold chain before abandoning him and fleeing the scene.
Based on his complaint, an FIR was registered under Sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. The case was handed over to Crime Branch-26 for investigation.
The police team launched an intensive investigation using CCTV footage, technical inputs and confidential sources and arrested the two accused, identified as Sukhjeet Singh alias Sabi, 33, a resident of Hoshiarpur, Punjab, and Sukhbir Singh alias Sukhi, 29, a resident of Kiratpur, Rupnagar district, Punjab. Both are seasoned criminals with extensive criminal backgrounds. Sukhi has four previous cases registered against him in Punjab and Himachal while Sabi is named in eight cases, including those under the NDPS Act, Arms Act, and charges of attempted murder.

Missing child’s family protests in Baltana
Zirakpur: Scores of protesters blocked the main road in Baltana to stage a protest against the police inaction in the missing of an 11-year-old boy.
Family members alleged that despite registering a complaint, their son Roshan has been missing for the past four days but police has not taken any action. Family members and friends staged a protest on the road, affecting the movement of vehicles for hours today. They expressed apprehension about the safety and well being of the child.
The police rresorted to mild force to discharge the protesters and later assured the family of an update soon.
Youth held with 500gm heroin in Mohali
Mohali: The police have arrested a youth after recovered 500 gm heroin from his possession near Mubarikpur today.
The suspect, identified as Mohit, a 23-year-old resident of Guliana village in Kaithal, is a tenant at a flat on Golden-Key Gazipur Road, Zirakpur.
The police said the accused has been selling heroin in Zirakpur and Derabassi area. He is a Class 12 pass-out and has no case registered against him in the past.
The accused was produced in court and remanded in police custody. He is being questioned about the person from whom he purchased the heroin and where it was to be supplied.
A case under Section 21-61-85 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered against the accused at the Derabassi Police Station.
