Man dies trying to jump off moving train in Tohana
A tragic incident unfolded near Tohana in Haryana’s Fatehabad district, where a 30-year-old man died and his 8-year-old daughter was seriously injured while trying to jump off a moving train. The deceased, Rohtash, was trying to get off the train near Baliala Head when it slowed down but he lost his ground and got stuck. His daughter, Gunjan, was also injured in the incident.
According to the police, Rohtash was returning from Thua village in Jind district with his daughter when the tragedy occurred. As the train began to slow down near Baliala, he tried to alight before the train stopped fully. While Rohtash died on the spot, Gunjan suffered severe injuries and was rushed to the Civil Hospital. Due to the extent of her injuries, including the loss of a leg, she was referred to Agroha Medical College for further treatment.
The local railway police have launched an investigation into the accident. ASI Satish Kumar, the investigating officer from Jakhal Railway Police, said they were recording witness accounts and statements from the victim’s family to determine the exact sequence of events.
Rohtash had been living in Tohana for the past two years with his brother Rammehar, who works as an accountant at the local grain market. Rohtash earned a living as a daily wage labourer. On the day of the incident, his wife had gone to her parents’ home along with their two sons, leaving Rohtash and Gunjan behind.
