No Kalka-Shimla train service from July 11 to 15

Train services to Shimla from Kalka will remain suspended from July 11 to 15 as the Northern Railways is set to conduct the de-launching and launching of the girder of Bridge No. 800 located between Jatogh and Summer Hill stations on the Kalka-Shimla narrow gauge section.

As a result, about eight trains plying from Kalka to Shimla and Shimla to Kalka will face operational changes, including short-termination, short-originating, and full cancellation. The train sevices during this period will only continue till the Tara Devi railway station, about 6 km from the state’s capital.

The Northern Railways, Ambala Division, has issued an official notification regarding this order.

As per the notification, Train No. 52457 will depart from Kalka at 3.30 am and will reach the Tara Devi railway station at 8.04 am, Train No. 52458 will depart from Tara Devi at 11.33 am and will reach Kalka at 4.15 pm, Train No. 52451 will depart from Kalka at 5.45 am and will reach Tara Devi at 10.10 am, Train No. 52452 will depart from Tara Devi at 5.57pm and will reach Kalka at 10.15pm, Train No. 52459 will depart from Kalka at 7 am and will reach Tara Devi at 11.20 am, Train No. 52460 will depart from Tara Devi at 4.34pm and will reach Kalka at 8.50pm, Train No. 52455 will depart Kalka at 11.55 pm and will reach Tara Devi at 4.25 pm and Train No. 52456 will depart from Tara Devi at 7.12 pm and will reach Kalka at 11.30 pm.

Similarly, Train No. 52453 (Kalka–Shimla), Train No. 52454 (Shimla–Kalka), Train No. 52445/52446 (Kalka-Shimla and Shimla-Kalka), Kalka-Shimla Mixed Special and Shimla-Kalka Mixed Special have been cancelled. Train No. 52451 will terminate at Tara Devi and its empty coach rake (ECR) will proceed to Jatogh for engine reversal. After examination, it will return as Train No. 52452 from Tara Devi to Kalka.

The notification also mentioned that arrangements for watering have been made at the Barog railway station due to the lack of watering facilities at Tara Devi.

Passengers have been advised to check the latest train schedule and cooperate with the railway staff during this infrastructure upgrade.
