Plantation drive held in Jammu
As part of the ongoing ‘Clean Jammu Green Jammu’ campaign, a plantation drive was held today in Upper Roopnagar area. The event saw the enthusiastic participation from girl students of Women College Parade, who planted a variety of saplings, contributing to the city’s green cover.
Local residents of Roopnagar, officials from Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Urban Forestry Division Jammu and ‘Swachhata’ Volunteers also joined the drive, demonstrating strong community support for environmental conservation.
An official said that the campaign, spearheaded by Jammu Municipal Corporation and Urban Forestry Division Jammu, aims to make Jammu greener by involving citizens from all walks of life. A unique feature of the campaign is the adoption of saplings, where a QR code is affixed in the name of the individual who adopts and cares for the plant.
On till August 15, the campaign has set an ambitious target of planting 60,000 saplings across the city. The departments are making sustained efforts to involve political parties, social service organisations, schools, colleges, universities, students and ‘Swachhata’ Champions in this noble cause.
