The day of the full moon in the Hindu month of Ashadh is very sacred and observed as Guru Purnima. This holy day is also a day to show gratitude and respect to one's guru or spiritual guru. Rituals To Follow On Guru Purnima 2025:

  • Worship The Peepal Tree: On Guru Purnima, the Peepal tree is especially worshipped. It is believed that offering prayers to the Peepal tree on this auspicious day pleases Goddess Lakshmi. Devotees are advised to pour water and milk at the base of the tree and light a ghee lamp to invite prosperity into their lives.
  • Offer Kheer As Prasad: To strengthen your financial condition and gain the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi, it is considered auspicious to prepare and offer kheer (a sweet dish made with milk and rice) to the goddess on Guru Purnima.
  • Decorate Your Main Door With Toran: To ensure the presence of Goddess Lakshmi in your home, it is suggested to hang a toran (a decorative garland) made of fresh mango leaves and flowers at the entrance of your house. This act is believed to bring positivity and prosperity.
  • Perform Tulsi Puja: Tulsi (Holy Basil) is considered to be the abode of Goddess Lakshmi. On Guru Purnima, devotees are encouraged to perform a proper ritualistic worship of the Tulsi plant. Lighting a ghee lamp near the plant both in the morning and evening, and offering water (arghya) in the morning is believed to bring divine blessings.
