Bihar News: Tejashwi Yadav, Rahul Gandhi Lead Mega Protest March Against Voter List Drive In Patna
In a powerful show of unity, the INDIA alliance today took to the streets of Patna to protest against the ongoing voter list verification process in Bihar, which they allege is a deliberate attempt to disenfranchise poor, backward, and marginalized voters. Tejashwi Yadav, accompanied by VIP party chief Mukesh Sahani and Left leaders, was seen atop a truck near Patna’s Income Tax Golambar, awaiting Rahul Gandhi’s arrival. The area is completely locked down, with heavy barricading and traffic diversions, as thousands of party workers from RJD, Congress, CPI, and other allies have gathered, waving party flags and shouting slogans of "Rahul Gandhi Zindabad" and "Vote Bachao, Loktantra Bachao". A separate truck houses national media covering the march, while another is designated for top alliance leaders. The protest march, covering a 600-700 meter stretch from Income Tax Golambar to the Bihar Election Commission’s office, is a response to what the opposition calls "votebandi" — voter suppression targeting genuine but underprivileged citizens. The protest is expected to intensify once Rahul Gandhi arrives, as the alliance leaders challenge the EC's documentation demands and demand a more transparent, inclusive process ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
