A sick woman from Khairewadi in Nashik's Igatpuri taluka had to be carried in a sling to a hospital for treatment. According to the information received, Khairewadi is a remote tribal village that still lacks basic amenities. The citizens here face immense difficulties in leaving the village, especially during the rainy season. As the three streams in the area flood and the dirt roads become impassable, it becomes nearly impossible to leave the village. Recently, when a woman’s condition deteriorated and she had to be taken to the hospital immediately. However, due to the absence of roads and bridges, the family had to carry her in a sling and walk through knee-deep water and dense forest to reach medical care.
Interestingly, the administration had already acknowledged the problem. Former tehsildar Parmeshwar Kasule had sent a proposal to the government to build a bridge and road in the area. The district collector had also visited and inspected the site. However, no roads or bridges have been constructed to date, forcing villagers to continue risking their lives during emergencies.
Due to this serious situation, local citizens have expressed strong displeasure with their elected representatives. Citizens are angrily asking whether local MLA Hiraman Khoskar, who demanded a flyover for Nashik city during the monsoon session, is unaware of such fundamental issues in villages like Khairewadi within his own constituency, said Balu Ughade, a local resident. People are questioning how it is justified to ignore the basic needs of rural areas while focusing on urban development. The Khairewadi incident has once again raised concerns about the lack of infrastructure in rural areas and the responsibilities of public representatives.
