Not 'Sitaare Zameen Par' or 'Kesari Chapter 2', this is the most popular Indian film of 2025 so far: See full list

As the first half of 2025 has come to a close, the Indian chapter of the Internet Movie Database (IMDb) has released a list, according to which the Vicky Kaushal-starrer Chhaava has topped the list of the 'Most Popular Indian Movies of 2025 So Far'. At the same time, the upcoming Rajinikanth-fronted Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial Coolie has topped the list of 'Most Anticipated Indian Movies: July-December 2025'.

"Of all the movies released in India between January 1, 2025 and July 1, 2025, that have an average IMDb user rating of 6 or higher with at least 10,000 votes, these titles were consistently the most popular with IMDb customers, as determined by the actual page views of the more than 250 million monthly visitors to IMDb worldwide," IMDb said in a press note, explaining the criterion for the selection.

“We're honoured that Chhaava has topped the IMDb Most Popular Indian Movies of 2025 So Far list,” said Laxman Utekar, the director of the historical drama, in a note. “What makes this recognition truly special is that it comes directly from the fans," he added.

The other films on the list after Chhaava are: Dragon, Deva, Raid 2, Retro, The Diplomat, L2: Empuraan, Sitaare Zameen Par, Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh, and VidaaMuyarchi.

Notably, among the most popular Indian films of 2025 so far, six are Hindi films, three Tamil, and one Malayalam.

Meanwhile, on Coolie topping the list of the 'Most Anticipated Indian Movies: July-December 2025', Lokesh Kanagaraj said in a statement: “This recognition from IMDb reflects the incredible excitement our fans have shown worldwide. The reunion of legends Rajinikanth and Sathyaraj after 38 years has created magic on screen, and we hope what we've created will resonate with audiences and match their expectations."

The other films on the list are: War 2, The Raja Saab, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, Saiyaara, Baaghi 4, Son of Sardaar 2, Hridayapoorvam, Mahavatar Narsimha and Alpha.
