Three dead, over a dozen injured as bus rams into parked vehicle

Three passengers were killed and 14 others injured when a Rajasthan Roadways bus on Hanumangarh-Chandigarh route collided with a parked vehicle near Nagrana village on the Hanumangarh Mega Highway around 8:30 am on Wednesday. The bus was reportedly attempting to overtake when the accident occurred.

According to preliminary information, the impact of the collision was so severe that the front portion of the bus was completely mangled, trapping most of the two dozen passengers inside. Passers-by rushed to the scene and helped pull the passengers inside.

Sangria police station in-charge Amar Singh with his team reached the spot shortly after the incident and started relief and rescue operations.

The injured were rushed to the Civil Hospital in Hanumangarh, where three passengers succumbed to their injuries. The condition of ten others remains critical, while four were discharged after receiving first aid.

According to police, two of the deceased have been identified as Rajiv Tomar (52), a resident of Bhind, Madhya Pradesh, and Prithvi Raj (52) of Hanumangarh.

Those currently undergoing treatment include Amar Dass, Dharampal Matoria, Rajinder Kumar, Ravi, Niranjan, Nishant Soni, Kuldeep Kumar (the bus driver), Kulwinder Kaur, Rekha and Bharati. Efforts are ongoing to identify other victims, police said.
