Thackeray cousins pose threat to Shinde’s urban stronghold?
The coming together of Uddhav and Raj Thackeray poses a challenge to Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde. With their combined appeal—Uddhav’s soft Hindutva and Raj’s Marathi-centric Hindutva—the Thackeray duo could dent BJP-Shinde’s urban voter base in cities like Mumbai, Thane, Pune, and Nashik. This unity threatens Shinde’s influence, especially ahead of the crucial BMC polls. A poor civic poll performance may weaken his standing within the ruling alliance, where he’s already viewed by many BJP leaders as a short-term ally rather than a lasting partner.
