This film beats Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par, Kajol’s Maa at box-office, not Jurassic Park: Rebirth, name is…
For the first time, Kajol entered the horror-thriller genre with Maa, and it seems to be falling short of expectations. Despite early curiosity around the emotional mother-daughter storyline, the film hasn’t quite managed to strike a chord with audiences. With a reported budget of Rs 55–60 crore, Maa needed a strong theatrical run, but signs aren’t too promising.
According to reports from Sacnilk, the film earned just Rs 85 lakh on Day 12 (Tuesday), bringing its total domestic Box Office collection to Rs 33.15 crore. Worldwide, the movie has inched towards Rs 45 crore after 12 days. A far cry from what was hoped for.
Is Aamir Khan back in form after Laal Singh Chaddha?
Yes and how? Aamir Khan seems to have regained his footing with Sitare Zameen Par, a sports drama that doubles as an emotional redemption tale. The actor plays Gulshan Arora, a junior basketball coach punished by court orders to train a group of teenagers with Down Syndrome into a competitive football team.
On Day 19, the film brought in Rs 1.85 crore, pushing its India total to Rs 151.90 crore. Globally, the film has now crossed Rs 235 crore. This marks a significant comeback after the failure of Laal Singh Chaddha and proves Aamir still knows how to connect with the heart.
What’s dominating the global Box Office?
It’s not Bollywood this time — it’s Brad Pitt. The Hollywood superstar’s latest sports drama, F1, released 12 days ago, is speeding ahead of its competition. In India alone, the film earned Rs 2.75 crore on Day 12, bringing its total domestic gross to Rs 55.95 crore.
But the real shocker lies in the global numbers, which are by F1, as it has already crossed an astounding Rs 2,575 crore worldwide, crushing not just Maa and Sitare Zameen Par but most global releases in 2025.
What’s affecting Bollywood’s Box Office game?
There are a mix of factors that are going on, firstly, competing Hollywood blockbusters (F1, Jurassic World Rebirth), underwhelming storytelling (Maa), and shifting audience tastes. Even Anurag Basu’s Metro… In Dino failed to hold traction amid this Hollywood storm.
With rising budgets and dwindling returns, only films with emotional depth (Sitare Zameen Par) or global buzz (F1) seem to be making a mark.
