Three drug peddlers nabbed with 80-gm heroin in Kapurthala
In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Kapurthala police have arrested three individuals in two separate operations and seized a total of 80 grams of heroin.
The arrests were made under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation in the matter is underway.
In the first incident, a team from the CIA staff — led by ASI Keval Singh — apprehended a woman near the Lakhan Kalan village turn. The accused has been identified as Meeko, a resident of the said village. During the search, the police recovered 40 grams of heroin from her possession. A case has been registered at Sadar Police Station and the woman was produced in court and sent to judicial custody.
In the second incident, Subhanpur police intercepted an Alto car at the Subhanpur Chowk. Two men, identified as Varinder Singh alias Mangli and his associate Ravipal — both residents of Jalandhar — were taken into custody. During the search, police recovered 40 grams of heroin from them near Kala Bakra. SHO Amandeep Kumar of Subhanpur Police Station confirmed that a case has been registered under the NDPS Act and the suspects are currently being interrogated.
Kapurthala police continue to intensify their efforts against drug trafficking in the region.
