Bank Holidays: If you have any bank related work, then finish it quickly because banks are going to be closed for many days between 9th and 20th July. Bank closure may affect many banking related works including checkbook passbook, however online services like net banking, UPI, mobile apps and ATM will remain active. With this, you can do things like transfer money, check balance, pay bills or withdraw cash from ATM.

Trade unions have announced Bharat Bandh across the country on Wednesday against “anti-labor and pro-corporate” policies, although no official announcement of bank holiday has been made. According to the RBI list, banks will remain open on 9th July. But banking services may be affected in banks where unions are active or employees are involved in the strike. The effect of the strike can be seen especially in government / cooperative banks.

Know how holidays are decided

According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks are closed on the second/Saturday of every month. While every Sunday is a weekly holiday. Apart from this, banks do not work on festivals.

Bank holidays in India include national holidays (gazetted holidays) and government holidays (state/central).

State government holidays are different in different states, while central government holidays are the same throughout the country.

Regional holidays are related to a particular state or region. A holiday on a particular day in one state does not mean that there will be a holiday in another state as well.

Bank users can take help of these online services

During bank holidays, customers can use online services, because bank holidays have no effect on digital services like UPI, Mobile Banking, Internet Banking.

NET BANKING: You can use net banking through the bank’s website or mobile app. It provides the facility of money transfer, bill payment and balance check.

Unified Payments Interface: Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is a secure way to transfer money, you only have to use UPI apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm etc.

MOBILE BANKING: Through the bank’s mobile app on the smartphone, you can avail many services like fund transfer, mobile recharge, utility bill payment etc.

ATM USE: ATMs are always available to withdraw money, check balance and get mini statement. You can also use facilities like cardless cash withdrawal in ATM.
