Weapons, ammunition found in Gurdaspur
The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has foiled a terror plot allegedly orchestrated by Pakistan-based Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operative Harwinder Rinda by recovering arms and ammunition near Gazikot village in the district.
The arms and ammunition were meant for Rinda’s associates operating in Punjab. Two AK-47 rifles and 16 cartridges, two magazines and two PS-86 hand grenades were recovered. Police officials say the consignment had been pushed into Indian territory by Pakistani agencies as part of a plan to carry out attacks at locations across Punjab. The main aim of the terrorists was to disrupt peace in the state.
An FIR has been registered at the Purana Shala police station under the Explosives Act and the Arms Act.
