Post Office: Post Office has taken another big step to increase the convenience of customers. Now services related to Recurring Deposit (RD) and Public Provident Fund (PPF) accounts in the post office will also be available through Aadhaar based biometric e-KYC. That is, now there will be no need to fill forms for everything from opening an account to transactions.

What is the change?

Earlier, the facility of Aadhaar-based e-KYC was available only in some schemes like MIS, TD, KVP and NSC. But now it has been implemented on RD and PPF accounts across the country. Now you can do these things in the post office through biometric Aadhaar for RD and PPF accounts.

Opening a new RD or PPF account.

Depositing amount in your account.

Taking loan on RD and PPF.

Paying EMI of the loan taken.

Withdrawal of money from PPF account (without any limit)

Aadhaar number will now be safe

Now Aadhaar number will be masked on all documents. That means only the last four digits will be visible.

If the full number is visible in any document like Aadhaar photocopy, then the post office staff has been instructed to hide it with a black pen.

How will this entire process happen?

The Post Office Assistant (PA) will obtain Aadhaar consent by taking a biometric scan from the customer.

While opening an account or for transactions, the identity will be verified by taking fingerprints for the second time.

In this process, neither a pay-in slip will have to be filled, nor any withdrawal form.

The amount mentioned while opening the account will be considered as your deposit amount.

If money is being transferred from your post office savings account, then no separate form (SB-7) will have to be filled.

The Postal Department said that soon these works can also be done through Aadhaar-biometric service.

Closing an account

Updating nominee information

Transferring an account from one post office to another

With this new change, the service of the post office has become faster, safer and paperless. Now investments like RD and PPF can also be easily done digitally. So if you have an account in the post office, then next time you can get your work done through Aadhaar without any form.
