'Metro... In Dino' Box Office Collection Day 6: Anurag Basu’s Film Faces Midweek Dip, Can Ensemble Drama Hold Strong?
Anurag Basu’s anthology-style romantic drama 'Metro… In Dino' is experiencing a typical midweek dip in box office numbers following a promising start. Headlined by a stellar ensemble cast including Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher, Pankaj Tripathi and Konkona Sen Sharma, the film has now netted Rs 24.50 crore in India over six days.
'Metro... In Dino' Box Office Collection Day 6
'Metro… In Dino' opened on a respectable note with Rs 3.5 crore on Day 1. The film saw an upward trajectory over the weekend, ending Sunday with a solid Rs 16.17 crore cumulative total.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 2.25 crore on its first Wednesday (Day 6), down from its Rs 2.75 crore Tuesday take, a decline expected after the boost from Discount Tuesday, when tickets are available at lower rates. Despite the drop, the overall Hindi occupancy on Wednesday stood at a decent 14.59%, with the highest footfall recorded during night shows at 18.61%.
The challenge ahead, however, is real. The box office this weekend is packed with competition, including fresh releases like 'Superman', 'Maalik' and 'Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan', all aiming for strong screen presence. Industry watchers now await the film’s second Friday numbers. If it manages to stay above the Rs 2 crore mark, there’s hope it could score a Rs 10 crore second weekend, taking it closer to a Rs 40 crore lifetime target.
The romantic musical is currently facing stiff competition from the Hollywood classic 'Jurassic World Rebirth'.
With its grounded storytelling and multi-layered characters, 'Metro… In Dino' continues to hold its own. The first week is expected to close slightly above Rs 25 crore, giving the film a decent foundation heading into its second weekend.
