Drug peddler’s house razed in Kot Khalsa
The Amritsar police on Thursday demolished the house of another drug peddler — identified as Saurav Partap alias Sunny — in Akash Avenue in Kot Khalsa area.
He has around 25 criminal cases against him in various parts of Punjab. His daughter Muskan and brother Aditya Partap were also arrested by the police for recovery of 6kg opium, 8kg heroin, 2kg of chemical used for manufacturing heroin, apart from a pistol.
Sunny, who originally hails from Hargobind Avenue in Chheharta, is currently absconding.
His another property — which was in his wife Savita Partap’s name — located at Akash Avenue in Kot Khalsa was demolished by the police after following the procedure, said Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar. He said he had constructed the house with the help of ill-gotten money through drug peddling. It was constructed against the building bylaws of Municipal Corporation, he added.
Since March 1, the police has demolished around nine houses belonging to drug smugglers located in different parts of the city.
Bhullar warned drug peddlers that the Punjab police have adopted zero tolerance against drug smugglers. He said the campaign would continue till the menace is eradicated from the state.
