Chess meet for visually challenged begins

As many as 80 students are taking part in the AICFB North Zone Chess Championship for the Visually Challenged-2025, which kicked of at the Sector 39 Sports Complex here today.

The championship is being hosted by the National Association for the Blind (NAB) in collaboration with the All-India Chess Federation for the Blind (AICFB) and the Department of Sports, Chandigarh. The top-performing players will earn qualification for the AICFB National Chess Championship, while outstanding young talents will secure places in the Junior National Chess Championship.

The championship was inaugurated by Sorabh Arora, Director Sports, in presence of players and dignitaries.

“It is truly inspiring to witness the grit, discipline and talent of these players. The Chandigarh Administration remains dedicated to fostering inclusive sports and ensuring wider participation of differently abled athletes,” said Arora.
