No end to waterlogging woes of Amravati Enclave residents
Persistent waterlogging at Amravati Enclave has left residents marooned again. Torrential rains for two consecutive nights led to severe flooding in the stilt parking, lobbies, lifts, and even ground-floor flats. The enclave, located on the outskirts of Panchkula, has reportedly faced similar issues every monsoon for the past nine years, with no lasting remedial action taken.
On Monday night, residents of one block were stranded for hours as flood water entered lift shafts, rendering elevators inoperative until the water was pumped out and temporary repairs were made. Vehicles parked in the stilt parking bore the brunt of the flooding as several cars and two-wheelers were damaged. “My car is with the mechanic for repair,” said a resident, expressing frustration at repeated losses.
The situation worsened on Tuesday night, when drainage water reportedly reversed into the building from the DLF side, inundating all ground-floor flats. “People were too busy trying to salvage their belongings that they could not even take photos as a proof of flooding,” another resident said. The residents allege that their block lies at a lower level, making it the first to face flooding when runoff from the nearby DLF area flows downhill. Despite repeated complaints to the builder’s men, no effective solution has been implemented.
Despite the ongoing distress, there has been no official response from the developer or municipal authorities.
