Graft case against Singla dropped as voice samples didn’t match: CM

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today said that the cancellation report filed by Mohali police in the corruption case registered against former Health Minister Vijay Singla was dropped as the voice samples did not match during forensic examination.

In response to the question if Vijay Singla would be reinstated in the Cabinet, the Chief Minister denied Singla’s re-induction, saying that he had just made changes in his Council of Ministers and there were 15 ministers in his Cabinet.

Mohali police has filed a cancellation report in the district court, Mohali, on June 2 to get the case registered against Vijay Singla cancelled and the court has reserved the decision for July 14. The investigating officer had said that Vijay Singla’s voice samples did not match and no concrete evidence of corruption has been found.

There was a lot of uproar from Opposition parties in the past over the clean chit given to Vijay Singla, alleging that the police had not filed a chargesheet against Singla and a challan had been filed against his OSD Pradeep Kumar. The Mohali police had registered a case against Singla and his OSD on May 24, 2022 and arrested them.
