Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced strict regulations against private hospitals withholding patient bodies over unpaid bills, introducing a 24x7 helpline and penalties. The cabinet also approved the Gaja Mitra Scheme to mitigate human-elephant conflicts in eight districts.
