Comedian Kapil Sharma’s recently launched kaps Café in Surrey, Canada, came under attack when an unidentified assailant opened fire on the premises late Wednesday night. The attacker fired multiple rounds at the café and then fled the scene. The incident has caused widespread fear, especially among local shopkeepers in Surrey. Bullet marks were seen on the café windows. The attack is being claimed by Harjeet Singh Laddi, a Khalistani terrorist linked to the banned group Babbar Khalsa International, who is also on India’s NIA most-wanted list. Following the attack, Kapil Sharma’s wife, Ginni Chatrath, broke her silence on social media. She stated they are in shock but will not give up and will continue to stand strong. The Café was soft-launched by Kapil Sharma just days ago after years of planning. In response, Indian agencies and Mumbai Police have gone on high alert. Security was stepped up at Sharma’s Andheri Lokhandwala residence in Mumbai, where he lives with his family. Officers from the Mumbai Crime Branch visited the building to assess the situation. With the comedian actively working on his television show in Film City, Goregaon, Mumbai Police have taken precautionary measures for his safety.
