Rekha and Jaya Bachchan’s fiery video clip over Amitabh Bachchan in Silsila goes viral on internet: ‘Amit mera pyaar hai…’

Amitabh Bachchan is widely regarded as one of the biggest stars that Indian cinema has ever produced. Over the decades, his linkup stories with various co-stars became a topic of intrigue among fans. Among them, the most-discussed dynamic involving him, his wife Jaya Bachchan, and actress Rekha, has fascinated audiences for decades. While most of the buzz has lived in the realm of gossips and speculations, it was in 1981, when the film Silsila released, and brought the trio together.

Helmed by late filmmaker Yash Chopra, the casting of Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and Rekha continue to intrigue fans till this date. After Chopra’s Kaala Patthar turned out to be a commercial disappointment, he decided to make a comeback with a romantic and emotional story.

He took on a bold challenge of casting Amitabh, Jaya and Rekha together in a film that revolved around the rumours of their real-life dynamics. In the film, Amitabh played a dramatist, Amit, who finds himself stuck between two women- his wife Shobha (played by Jaya), and fomer lover Chandni (played by Rekha). For audiences, it added a layer curiosity by seeing them together, speculating their on and off-screen love triangle.
