HUL”s New MD and CEO: In a major announcement, Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) on Thursday announced the name of its new CEO. The company, which is India’s largest FMCG firm, informed that Priya Nair has been appointed as the new CEO and MD, and she will assume office from August 1. By assuming office, she will become the first woman to reach this position in the company. Nair is currently serving as the President of Beauty and Wellbeing of Unilever. As per the company, Priya will serve in the post for a term of five years.
Notably, Priya Nair will replace Rohit Java, who is currently serving as the CEO and MD of HUL. His term is ending on July 31. Java took charge of the company in 2023. During his tenure, he led the company even in difficult market conditions.
As MD and CEO, Priya will be a part of India’s largest FMCG company’s board, subject to necessary approvals. She will continue to be a member of the Unilever Leadership Executive (ULE), the company statement said. The decision reflects the growing role of women in the Indian corporate sector.
How Was Priya Nair’s Journey At HUL?
Priya Nair started her career with HUL in the year 1995. She wore several hats and worked in several crucial positions related to sales and marketing. From 2014 to 2020, she served as the Executive Director of Hem Care, from 2020 to 2022, she was the Executive Director of Beauty and Personal Care. Later, she assumed the position of Global Chief Marketing Officer at Unilever and from 2023 she is the President of the Beauty and Wellbeing Unit.

HUL chairperson Nitin Paranjpe expressed his joy, stating that Priya has had an outstanding career in the company and hopes that she will take the company to new heights. “I am certain that with her deep understanding of the Indian market and excellent track record, Priya will take HUL to the next level of performance,” Paranjpe said.
What Is Priya Nair’s Education Qualification?
Priya Nair earned her Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) in Accounts & Statistics from Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics in 1987–1992. She completed her Master of Business Administration from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune in the year 1992-1994. She then moved to Harvard Business School for a programme in Business Administration and Management.
