Mumbai News: 75-Year-Old Guard Hit By Cop’s Bike In Worli; Family Alleges Police Cover-Up

Mumbai: A 75-year-old security guard, Dashrath Ramlakhan Yadav, was seriously injured in a road accident near JK Kapoor Chowk, Worli Police Camp, on the night of July 1. The victim was allegedly hit by a two-wheeler bearing registration number MH 01 CY 9872 while returning home from duty. The rider of the bike has been identified as police constable Vasudev Kanojia, currently serving with the LA unit.

According to the complaint filed by the victim’s son, Ramakant Dashrath Ahir (50), a civil contractor residing in Worli Gaon, the incident occurred around 10:00 PM. Ahir’s son, Ravi, first informed him via phone that his grandfather had been struck by a bike and was being rushed to Podar Hospital. Due to the severity of the injuries, Yadav was later transferred to KEM Hospital for further treatment. He sustained injuries to the head and left hand and is currently admitted as an inpatient.

Bystanders at the scene reportedly caught the biker and helped rush the injured man to the hospital. However, as per the complainant, the biker fled from the hospital after police arrived. He was again apprehended by locals and handed over to the authorities. The complainant’s family alleges that the biker, Vasudev Kanojia, is being shielded by officers from Worli Police Station, raising concerns about an impartial investigation.

A formal complaint has been lodged at Worli Police Station, and the family has demanded lawful action against the rider for reckless driving resulting in injuries.
