In the wake of a devastating preliminary report released by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), Air India has issued a formal response, reaffirming its commitment to the families of victims and pledging full cooperation as investigators continue to examine the tragic crash of Flight AI171.
In a statement shared early Saturday morning on X (formerly Twitter), Air India said it “stands in solidarity with the families and those affected by the AI171 accident,” adding that it continues to mourn the loss of life and remains “fully committed to providing support during this difficult time.”

However, citing the ongoing nature of the probe, Air India refrained from discussing specific aspects of the crash. “Given the active nature of the investigation, we are unable to comment on specific details and refer all such enquiries to the AAIB,” the statement concluded.
A Tragedy That Shook the Nation
The crash of Air India Flight AI171 sent shockwaves across the country and the global aviation community. While investigations are still ongoing, early findings suggest a technical anomaly with catastrophic consequences. According to the AAIB's 15-page preliminary report, one of the pilots noticed an unexpected shutdown of both engines shortly after takeoff—a critical event that unfolded in under two minutes and left no time for recovery.
The tragedy has raised urgent questions around aircraft safety protocols, system redundancies, and maintenance checks. As investigators dig deeper into what caused the dual engine shutdown, the world waits for answers—and for accountability.
