New Delhi: Italy men’s team has bagged a historic qualification into ICC Men T20 World Cup 2026. After suffering a crushing 9-wicket defeat to the Netherlands in their last ICC Men T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier 2025 game on Friday, July 11, the Italian team still qualified to their first-ever Cricket World Cup. A top-two finish in the standings was enough to secure their ticket to India for next year’s global event.
The ICC Men T20 World Cup 2026 will be hosted in India and Sri Lanka, with the date fixed to be next year (February and March).
At the 2024 ICC Men s T20 World Cup playing in the West Indies and the USA, three teams participated in the event for the first time: Uganda, Canada and the United States, with the USA impressively going through to the Super 8 stage.
The Italian team, after an impressive show in the ICC Men T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier 2025, with a spectacular 12-run win against Scotland on July 9, will be keen on putting on a decent one in the T20 World Cup 2026 next year.
The success of the Netherlands and Italy in qualifying to the T20 world cup in 2026 on Friday caused a heartbreak to Jersey. Although the Jersey men’s team got a total of 5 points in four games of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier 2025, the team still missed the cut ranking third behind Italy because of a lower Net Run Rate (NRR).
