Successful Completion of Two-Day FDP on “AI in Language: Developing Smart Systems with NLP” Sponsored by AICTE – ATAL VAANI
A two-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “AI in Language: Developing Smart Systems with NLP” was successfully conducted on July 3rd and 4th, 2025, at A. P. Shah Institute of Technology, Thane, under the sponsorship of AICTE’s ATAL VAANI initiative. The ATAL VAANI scheme aims to promote the use of Indian languages in technical education by supporting seminars, workshops, and conferences in 22 regional languages.
This FDP was conducted entirely in Hindi, aligning with the spirit of the initiative, and received a tremendous response from participants. The programme was attended by over 55 participants, including faculty members, research scholars, and industry professionals from various institutions across Maharashtra.
The Day 1 sessions were led by Mr. Ankush Gaikwad, Salesforce Developer at ReaEspresso Digital, and Prof. Rajesh Bhise, Assistant Professor at Universal AI & Future Technologies School. They introduced the participants to the fundamentals of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and discussed its growing applications in multilingual contexts and industry settings.
Day 2 featured sessions by a panel of distinguished experts, including Dr. Ninand Mehendale, Associate Professor at K.J. Somaiya School of Engineering; Dr. Jaya Gupta, Head of the CSE (AI & ML) Department at A. P. Shah Institute of Technology; Dr. Shiwani Gupta, Head of AI & ML at Thakur College of Engineering and Technology; and Mrs. Pooja Mhatre, Software Developer at Sharp Software Development India. The speakers shared in-depth knowledge on advanced NLP algorithms, real-world applications, and ways to integrate AI and language technologies into academic curricula.
The programme concluded on a high note with enthusiastic feedback from participants. It not only provided valuable insights into emerging AI and NLP technologies but also stood out as a meaningful step toward promoting high-quality technical education in Indian languages.
