'Maine Kanya Vadh Kar Diya...': What Radhika's Father Told His Brother After Killing Her
A new revelation has come to the fore in the Gurugram tennis player's murder case. Radhika Yadav's uncle on Sunday said that his brother and accused Deepak Yadav had confessed to him about killing his daughter and repeatedly requested that he be hanged for it.
Talking to reporters, Vijay Yadav, the elder brother of Deepak Yadav recalled that when he arrived at the crime spot the accused told him he had lost his mind and killed his daughter.
"It is sad that a father has killed his own daughter. We think this is absolutely wrong. Her father is also sad after doing this. He was constantly telling ‘Mere Se Kanya Vadh Ho Gaya’ (I murdered my daughter)... He said in the police station to make his report in a way that the court would grant him a death sentence,” news agency PTI quoted Vijay Yadav as saying.
The 25-year-old former tennis player was allegedly shot dead at point-blank range by her father at the family's residence in the Sushant Lok area in Gurugram's Sector 57 on Thursday. Deepak Yadav was sent to two weeks' judicial custody on Saturday.
Vijay stressed that Deepak did not tell the reason behind shooting his own daughter. "Mereko ye kaha ki bhai, maine kanya vadh kar diya hai. Mujhe maar do...vajah nahi batayi… kehta bas bhai dimag kharab ho gaya tha [He said brother, I killed my daughter, kill me… he did not tell any reason… He said that he had lost his mind," he told news agency ANI.
He said the accused father loved his daughter a lot and had not only spent crores of rupees on her career, but also devoted all his time to her.
“Her father used to take her for training at 5 in the morning, and used to bring her back in the evening till the training was on. She had stopped going anywhere and everything else," Vijay told ANI.
Radhika's uncle then revealed that even at the police station, Deepak repeatedly requested the cops to draft a complaint that ensures he gets a death sentence. "He said it in the police station, too, that if there is a rule of hanging, then hang him."
Radhika's Uncle Claims Accused Repentant About Killing Daughter
Vijay condemned the murder, but also claimed that the accused was repentant about it. "Deepak had realised his mistake and there can be no greater punishment for someone than realisation when a person himself is guilty. The whole family is in shock."
Vijay Yadav also categorically denied that Radhika Yadav ran a tennis academy.
"She was a tennis coach. In my opinion, she had not opened any academy of her own... These people were rich from the beginning. Her father has worked very hard. When everyone in their village had kutcha houses, they had a pucca house... There is no bigger punishment than realisation when a person himself is guilty," Radhika Yadav's uncle added.
He then went on to react to claims that Radhika's father was unhappy with his daughter's social-media presence and her desire to become an influencer.
"Radhika also wanted to work in the advertising industry and become a model. She had composed a song and everyone in the family was happy about it," Vijay Yadav added.
