Himachal Dy Speaker assesses Gatadhar roads

Assembly Deputy Speaker Vinay Kumar visited the Gatadhar region on Saturday to assess road conditions and engage directly with local residents. His visit comes amid ongoing monsoon activity that has caused extensive damage across Himachal Pradesh, including several areas in Sirmaur district.

During his on-site interaction, Kumar instructed officials to ensure timely maintenance and regular monitoring of roads, especially during the rainy season. “Roads are the lifelines of any region and it is our responsibility to keep them functional and safe, particularly during challenging weather conditions,” he remarked.

Acknowledging the widespread impact of recent heavy rains on the state’s road infrastructure, especially in rural and hilly areas like Gatadhar, he urged locals to remain cautious during travel and avoid high-risk zones near rivers, rivulets and landslide-prone slopes.

Beyond road safety, the Deputy Speaker directed departments concerned to maintain uninterrupted electricity and drinking water supply in the region. He emphasised that the proper upkeep of essential services must not be compromised during the monsoon season.

Referring to the broader challenges posed by natural calamities in the state, he assured the public that the state government is acting with both sensitivity and urgency. “In these testing times, the government stands firmly with every family impacted by disaster,” he stated, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to relief, rehabilitation and resilient infrastructure.
