Pact inked for solar-powered micro cold stores
The Department of Horticulture has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), to set up solar-powered micro cold storage facilities of up to 10 MT capacity in the state.
The aim is to directly engage with farm-level beneficiaries and facilitate their integration into the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture schemes. The Horticulture Department has set a target to generate a demand potential of 5,000 MT of cold storage capacity every month.
Secretary (Horticulture) C Paulrasu said, “Himachal faces a persistent challenge in terms of post-harvest losses, especially at the farm level. The MoU reflects our commitment to empowering horticulture growers through sustainable and inclusive solutions.”
Akhilesh Kumar Dixit, CEO, EESL, said their company was committed to transforming post-harvest landscape.
