JAMMU, July 12: Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary, today visited Sub District Hospital Akhnoor and took stock of healthcare facilities available for the patients there.
The DyCM inspected various sections of the hospital and assessed the services being extended to the patients. He interacted with the patients and their attendants, seeking feedback regarding the quality of treatment and related services available at the SDH.
While interacting with them, the DyCM assured them that the Government is focusing on increasing medical care facilities in rural areas so that they can get access near their vicinities. He urged the hospital authorities to ensure timely treatment, streamlined processes and patient-centric care for the patients coming from different far flung areas of the Jammu.
The DyCM asked for maintaining proper sanitation and hygiene in and around the hospital premises besides checking the availability of medicine, duty rooster and staff strength. He maintained that the Government under the leadership of CM Omar Abdullah is committed to provide all modern healthcare facilities and infrastructure to the people at their door steps.
Later, the Deputy Chief Minister visited the Gurudwara Tapo Asthan Sant Baba Sunder Singh Ji at Akhnoor. He paid obeisance at the Gurudwara and prayed for progress, peace and prosperity of J&K.
The Gurudwara committee, on the occasion, requested for a cantilever platform in the river Chenab, so that the people can perform the ‘Asthi Visarjan’ ritual in the river instead of its bank.
It was informed that the DPR with an estimated cost of Rs 4.82 crore for the cantilever platform has already been submitted.
Acting swiftly on the demand, the DyCM allocated Rs 1 crore for the project and directed the department to tender for the same before 20th of July. He also asked for extra budget for beautification of Gurudwara premises and other allied works.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister acting strictly against the substandard road work on the Chijhama-Tragpora stretch in Rafiabad, Baramulla, has suspended the Junior Engineer besides issuing show cause notice to the defaulter Contractor.
The action has been taken following a viral video and public concern on the issue which necessitated suspension of Junior Engineer Riyaz Ahmad Bhat with immediate effect.
The executing contractor, M/s Rafiq Construction, has been served a formal notice to explain their position within three days, failing which action will be initiated under the NIT conditions and relevant laws. Samples of the laid macadam and bituminous material have been collected and sent to the DIQC laboratory for analysis.
