Janhit: 100 Crore Funded Religious Racket: Chhangur Used Foreign Money to Change Faiths | ABP NEWS
In a major crackdown, UP Police arrested 78-year-old Jalaluddin alias Chhangur Baba from Lucknow on July 5 for operating a large-scale illegal religious conversion racket. Chhangur, once a street vendor, allegedly brainwashed and coerced hundreds of people, especially women and minors, to convert from Hinduism to Islam. Police reports reveal he used code words like “project” for girls, “soil-turning” for conversion, and “make-up” for mental conditioning. Chhangur and his aide Nasreen managed finances and operations, funded by over ₹100 crore allegedly received from 40 countries. The racket involved luring vulnerable individuals with promises of money, marriage, or a better life. He had ties with Christian missionaries near the Nepal border and maintained 40 bank accounts. Chhangur also had controversial landholdings and used forged documents for acquisitions. Authorities uncovered that he assigned monetary "conversion rates" based on caste, with Brahmin girls fetching the highest value. A "Love Jihad" model was also part of his plan, using trained Muslim men to trap Hindu women. UP CM Yogi Adityanath labeled the case a deep-rooted conspiracy against Indian society, vowing strict action.
