Four held for snatching car, kidnapping woman in Mohali
The police have arrested four bike-borne youths for allegedly snatching a car and kidnapping a woman in Lakhnaur on July 11.
The suspects, identified as Gurdaspur native Shamsher Singh, Khanna native Satnam Singh, Nawanshahr natives Nirmal Singh and Chander Mohan, were apprehended from a gurdwara in Chanarthal near Shahbad. The team also recovered the stolen car from them.
The police said the car’s occupants were returning from the Bestech Mall after watching a movie when the four youths dressed in the attire of Nihang Singhs stopped them near Lakhnaur and thrashed the boy before fleeing with the car with the female occupant.
When the girl raised alarm, the accused dropped her off near the CP-67 Mall and fled with the car.
Police teams traced the route of the assailants and closed in on them last afternoon. Cops said the suspects had slapped a toll plaza worker on their way to Shahbad.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harmandeep Singh Hans said, “The suspects were currently staying in a paying guest accommodation in Sohana for past six months. One or two may be involved in incidents of crime earlier. They were produced in the court and sent to police remand.”
A case has been registered at the Sohana police station.
