Save Constitution rallies held in Payal, Gill

Congress MP Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Sunday reaffirmed the unity within the state unit and claimed that the party would form the government in 2027.

Addressing the ‘Save Constitution Rallies’ in Gill and Payal Assembly segments, the PCC president also called for radical police reforms to fix responsibility and accountability over the registration of fake FIRs.

Warring expressed grave concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab and said the gangsters had created an atmosphere of fear like the one prevailing during the terrorism days in Punjab. He said ransom calls have become a routine and helpless people are forced to pay ransom money and they do not even dare to complain.

Referring to the problem of drugs prevailing in Punjab, he said there is no magic wand to finish these instantly. He underlined the need for providing jobs to youth, which can act as great antidote against drugs. He said there was a huge number of vacancies which the AAP government was not filling as it did not have money.

Warring also suggested exploring the legalisation and regulation of traditional substances like opium and poppy husk, which he argued are less harmful than synthetic drugs. He quoted the example of Canada where cannabis were legalised in 2017.
