New Delhi: Kumar Mangalam Birla, chairman of Aditya Birla Group, has announced a major expansion plans worth Rs 2200 crore for BITS Pilani. According to the company, the main aim is to boost capacity, launch new AI centres and an edtech platform. The group will fund a new AI campus in Andhra Pradesh’s Amaravati, upgrade the infrastructure at the existing campuses and launch a new edtech platform BITS Pilani Digital, CNBC-TV18 reported. quoting Birla, who is also the chancellor of the technology institution.
What is the company’s plan?
- The group has launched Rs 1,200-crore “Project Vistaar” initiate to fund the modernization and expansion of campuses in Pilani, Hyderabad and Goa, under company’s plans to upgrade campuses
- The student capacity will jump to 26000 in the next 5 years from the current 18,700
- The campus will also add new research blocks, hostels and faculty housing.
- The group will invest over Rs 1,000 crore in setting up an AI campus in Amaravati, according to the report.
- Birla said the campus will be “future-ready” with specialisations in data science, robotics, computational linguistics and cyber-physical systems, the channel reported.
- The new campus will also offer UG, PG and PhD courses to over 7,000 students
Kumar Mangalam Birla appointed to the Board of Directors of USISPF
Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF). According to the statement issued by the USISPF, Kumar Mangalam Birla will be serving as a member of the Board’s Executive Committee, the USISPF said on Friday.
Aditya Birla Group is the largest Indian greenfield investor in the United States, with investments exceeding USD 15 billion and operations spanning 15 states across metals, carbon black, and chemicals.
