KL Rahul returns the favour, walks past Ben stokes after England skipper takes painful blow
New Delhi: The Lord’s Test between England and India is shaping up to be a thrilling contest, with both sides eyeing a crucial win that would give them a 2-1 lead in the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series. Day 4 began dramatically, as India claimed four English wickets in the morning session, with Mohammed Siraj leading the charge. The pacer kept up the intensity in the second session as well, even delivering a painful blow to England captain Ben Stokes, who was struck in the box and immediately dropped to the ground in visible discomfort.
Ben Stokes in pain
The event occurred during the last delivery of the 29th over. Siraj pitched a mean length and the ball dropped a bit low on Ben Stokes. He thought there was probably going to be quite a lot of bounce and he misjudged it and got a direct hit on the box, looking visibly rattled as the ball came in with pace.
After the blow, Stokes immediately fell to the ground in pain. KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurel passed by without checking on the England skipper but it was Ravindra Jadeja who took time to walk up to him and inquire whether he was okay.
KL Rahul returns favour
You may say that it is a normal element of the game. But we can not lose focus of the opener of the series at Headingley in which the roles were reversed. It was KL Rahul at that time who suffered as he was hit in the box by a ball bowled by no less than Ben Stokes.
It was during the Headingley Test match when Rahul was hit by a Stokes delivery, the England captain did not bother to see how he was doing. Rather, he was observed uttering a couple of words to Rahul in a fashion that cared less about the uncomfortable situation the batter found himself in.
India and England had scored the same number of runs in the first innings earlier in the match (387). England skipper, Ben Stokes, had won the toss and elected to bat first. As far as the series today in Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy stands 1-1, the Lord’s Test might be a deciding factor.
