Salary may increase by 30% to 34% in 8th Pay Commission
- According to the report of brokerage firm Ambit Capital, the salary of central employees and pensioners may increase by 30% to 34% after the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission. The new fitment factor may be between 1.83 to 2.46. This will put an additional burden of Rs 1.8 lakh crore on the central government.
- At present, in the 7th Pay Commission, the monthly basic salary of a level-1 employee is Rs 18,000 and that of a level-2 employee is Rs 19,900. It is likely that as soon as the 8th Pay Commission is implemented, the salary of level-1 and 2 employees may reach between Rs 30000 to Rs 50000. Since the salary of government employees includes basic salary, dearness allowance, house rent allowance and transport allowance. Basic salary is 51.5 percent of their total income.
What will be the effect on the fitment factor?
- The fitment factor is considered to play an important role in deciding the basic salary of central employees. Due to this factor, the salary of central employees increases by more than two and a half times. Currently, the fitment factor of employees is 2.57 percent. The revised basic pay is calculated from the old basic pay on the basis of the fitment factor.
- After the increase in salary and pension due to the 2.57 fitment factor in the 7th Pay Commission, the minimum salary of central employees increased from Rs 7,000 to Rs 18,000. The pension also increased from Rs 3,500 to Rs 9,000.
- In the 8th Pay Commission, the fitment factor can be fixed between 1.92 to 2.86, which can increase the salary by 30-50 percent. The minimum basic salary can increase from Rs 18,000 to between Rs 35000 and 50 thousand.
