Govt Scheme: If your child’s school is 5 km or more from home, then now the UP government will give you ₹ 6000 annual travel allowance. Its purpose is to easily reach the school to the students from far-flung areas and increase their regular attendance. The new scheme of the government will make the journey of thousands of children easier.
Students of which districts will be eligible for this scheme?
This scheme has been started for the students of Bundelkhand and Sonbhadra. The districts in which this scheme will be implemented – Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Banda and Sonbhadra. The benefit of this scheme will be available to students from class 9th to 12th. Who live at a distance of 5 KM or more from the government secondary school. Along with this, there is also a rule to take advantage of this scheme that the benefit of this scheme will be available only to those children whose attendance in school is regular.

Girls will also get benefit
Girls of 146 government schools selected under PM Shri Yojana will also get its benefit. This will help the daughters of rural and deprived families to reach school.
How to apply for the scheme
The student will have to fill a declaration form stating that there is no government secondary school within 5 km of his house.
In the village, the Pradhan and the school principal will verify this form, in the cities the local councilor will confirm it. Then the student will start getting the allowance
What is the condition to avail the scheme
To avail the benefit of this scheme, at least 10% increase in school attendance has to be shown. This will motivate students to come to school and studies will also improve.
How many students will benefit?
About 24,000 students of Bundelkhand and Sonbhadra will get the benefit. More than 4,000 girl students of PM Shri schools will also get travel allowance.
