'Hair Pulled, Smashed With Chappal': Female Kanwariya Assaults, Abuses 'Drunk' Woman Over Minor Accident On Haridwar-Rishikul Highway (VIDEO)

Haridwar: A disturbing incident surfaced from Uttarakhand, where Kanwariyas allegedly mishandled a woman. The alleged incident took place on the Haridwar-Rishikul highway in Uttarakhand on Sunday night. The incident was recorded on camera, and its video soon went viral on social media. Chaos erupted after the woman's scooty allegedly hit a kanwar, the sacred bamboo structure carried by devotees.

In the viral video, a female kanwariya could be seen abusing and thrashing the woman. Meanwhile, instead of stopping the female devotee, other male kanwariyas were supporting her and even abused the woman.

Video Of The Incident:

A heated argument broke out between the woman and kanwariyas. The matter escalated when the woman pushed the female kanwariya as she was abusing and charging towards her.

The video also shows the female Kanwariya pulling the woman's hair and hitting her with her slippers. The woman was then pushed to the ground. Meanwhile, another woman, believed to be the victim's friend, intervened and saved her. Kanwariya alleged that the woman was drunk. However, it is not known whether the woman was drunk or not.

After receiving the information, the police also reached the spot.

Notably, similar incidents have also taken place in the past, where kanwariyas have been seen assaulting people. On Sunday, a video surfaced online showing a group of kanwariyas thrashing a bus driver inside a bus in Ghaziabad.

The driver, visibly frightened, is seen folding his hands and pleading as a mob of young men repeatedly strike him. An elderly man who attempted to intervene was also manhandled.

The video, shared by an X user, claims the assault occurred after the bus allegedly brushed against a Kanwar while navigating through a congested stretch of road.

On July 8, Kanwariyas also allegedly vandalised a car and assaulted its driver in Ghaziabad’s Modinagar.

The Kanwar Yatra is an annual pilgrimage that is observed by millions of devotees of Lord Shiva in the holy month of Shravan. They fetch holy water from the Ganga. This holy water is then offered to Lord Shiva by the devotees at their native places. Devotees who take part in this auspicious yatra are known as Kanwariyas.
