No India vs Pakistan Match In Asia Cup 2025? All You Need To Know

After months of speculation, India is likely in for the Asia Cup 2025. It looks like the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has received the go-ahead from the Indian government to allow the national team to face off against Pakistan in the upcoming T20 tournament.

Asia Cup 2025, the multi-nation event will take place in September, with the UAE as the primary host.

India’s inclusion had been uncertain since rising tensions earlier this year. The cricket board had made it clear it wouldn’t permit the national side to play Pakistan without government backing—a position confirmed in June.

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC), facing financial stakes, had urged a timely decision from the BCCI, who reportedly responded by securing the necessary clearance.

Indian government's stance on IND vs PAK

India’s Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, while announcing that the National Sports Governance Bill will be tabled soon, emphasized that India and Pakistan will continue to play against each other across sports at international events.

India might clash with Pakistan twice in Asia Cup 2025: likely on September 5 and again on September 12, as per the tentative schedule.

“Our stand is clear. We don’t have any problems playing with Pakistan in any international sporting event, be it cricket, hockey, or any other sport. But when it comes to bilateral engagements, the government position is known to all,” Mandaviya was quoted as saying by PTI.

The original plan featured eight teams for Asia Cup 2025, including Oman and Hong Kong. However, it's believed the final list may be trimmed to six, depending on logistical readiness.

With the Indian government’s approval now secured, any remaining scheduling issues will be resolved ahead of the ACC’s meetings later this month.

India’s participation—and most importantly the high-voltage encounter against Pakistan—is now assured. With the energetic T20 format primed to begin early September, fans can expect fireworks in what’s always one of cricket’s most anticipated and electrifying fixtures.
