Pant Bowled, History Made: First-Of-Its-Kind Moment At Lord's In 21st Century

Several records have been created in the ongoing Test series between India and England. While the batters have scored heavily, the bowlers have also impressed with their skills.

The third match of the series is being played at the historic Lord's Cricket Ground in London, starting from July 10. On the final day of the match, Rishabh Pant was clean bowled, and his dismissal led to a remarkable record being set.

Rare Feat Achieved at Lord's

Rishabh Pant became the 14th batter to be clean bowled in this match, a milestone that carries significant historical weight.

This is the first instance since the year 2000 where 14 batters have been bowled in a single Test match.

In fact, this is the first time in the 21st century such a feat has occurred. Both Indian and English batters are included in this rare record, making it a shared achievement for both sides’ bowlers.

Washington Sundar Stuns With 4 Bowled Dismissals

Washington Sundar delivered a standout performance with the ball on Day 4 of the Test. He picked up four key wickets—and incredibly, all of them were bowled.

Sundar clean bowled Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Jamie Smith, and Shoaib Bashir, showcasing his ability to deceive top batters with flight and precision. His spell added significant weight to India’s bowling efforts.

Match Situation: India on verge of defeat

In the first innings, England scored 387 runs, and India matched the total with an identical score—largely thanks to KL Rahul’s composed century. England managed 192 in their second innings, setting India a target of 193 to win the match.

However, the Indian team ended Day 4 at 4 wickets down. The situation worsened on the fifth morning as KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Washington Sundar were dismissed in quick succession. At the time of writing, India had lost 7 wickets, with 85 runs still needed for victory. The match hangs in the balance, with England holding the edge.
