‘1st in state, stipend-based apprenticeship degrees launched at Kurukshetra University’
Kurukshetra University (KU) Vice-Chancellor Som Nath Sachdeva, in a meeting held here on Monday, formally announced the launch of the apprenticeship embedded degree programmes (AEDPs) for the 2025-26 academic year.
He said the university was the first in the state to launch UGC-compliant, stipend-based apprenticeship degree programmes. Sachdeva also released a flyer highlighting key features of the AEDPs.
Registrar Dr Virender Pal, Dean (Academic Affairs) Dinesh Kumar, and AEDP Coordinator Manjula Chaudhary were among the attendees of the meeting.
Sachdeva said, “The UGC has rightly emphasised the need for higher education to be more skill-intensive and industry-integrated. These programmes at KU reflect this vision, combining academic rigor with real-time industrial exposure — preparing students for meaningful careers.”
Chaudhary said the university was inviting online applications for four undergraduate programmes — BCom (professional), BMS (event management), BCA (industry-linked), and BSc (medical lab technology – MLT). These were three-year, practice-oriented programmes, with the third year dedicated to a paid apprenticeship with a minimum monthly stipend of Rs 9,000, Chaudhary added.
Deputy Director (Public Relations) Jimmy Sharma said students who had completed Class XII in any stream were eligible to apply for these programmes.
The handbook of information for AEDPs (HBI-AEDP-25), along with online application form was available on the university’s website, he added.
