Chamba health workers get a push with OEEE training
A six-day training programme under the Ayushman Arogya Mandir’s expanded package was inaugurated at Chamba on Monday. The programme, organised under the aegis of Chief Medical Officer Dr Bipen Thakur, is aimed at equipping health supervisors and health workers with essential skills for care related to the oral, eye, ear, throat, nose, and emergency (OEEE) domains.
Speaking at the inaugural session, District Programme Officer Dr Kavita Mahajan highlighted the importance of the training. “The key objective of this initiative is to create awareness at the community level about common ailments related to the mouth, eyes, ears, nose, throat and emergency care. The training will empower frontline health workers to identify such cases early and ensure timely treatment,” she said.
Dr Mahajan further said after the completion of this training at the block level, ASHA workers will also be trained on OEEE care. These ASHA workers will play a crucial role in identifying individuals suffering from related illnesses at the village level and assist in getting them the required medical care. In addition, they will conduct health education sessions to raise awareness and promote preventive practices among rural populations.
Health educator Nirmala Thakur and health instructor Kamal Bharti Mankotia served as the lead trainers for the first day of the programme. Both shared detailed insights into common infections, symptoms to watch for and immediate response strategies for emergencies.
The training marks an important step toward strengthening community health systems and improving early detection and response to ENT-related and emergency health issues in remote areas of the district, said the Chief Medical Officer.
