Palampur Rotary Club sends supplies to flood-hit Thunag
The local Rotary Club has sent a truck carrying essential supplies worth approximately Rs 4 lakh for the flood victims of the Thunag region of Mandi district. The truck was flagged off today from Rotary Bhawan by former chief minister Shanta Kumar and former Vidhan Sabha Speaker Brij Bihari Lal Butail.
The relief material includes 504 blankets, 270 tents, 100 pairs of shoes, clothes for around 1,500 utensils. The supplies will be personally delivered to the affected families in Thunag by Ajay Sood, Kapil Sood, Rishi Sangray and Gopal Sood, members of the club, who will coordinate with the district administration.
Flagging off the material Shanta Kumar said, “Service to humanity is the highest form of worship and Rotary exemplifies this ideal in the spirit of Swami Vivekananda’s teachings. Just as Swami ji believed that service is the foundation of nation-building, Rotary rises in every moment of crisis with dedication and compassion.”
Praising Rotary’s commitment in times of disaster, Butail said, “Be it an earthquake, flood or pandemic, Rotary has always fulfilled its duty with discipline and devotion. This effort by Rotary Club is a proud continuation of that tradition.”
Rotary Club president Ajay Sood and secretary Raghav Sharma stated that the Rotary family remains ever-ready to serve in times of distress, and similar service initiatives will continue in the future.
