J&K gymnasts flagged off for FIG World Challenge Cup

JAMMU, July 14: In a grand flag-off ceremony held today, two talented gymnasts from Jammu and Kashmir, Vaibhavi Sharma and Muskan Rana, were officially sent off to participate in the prestigious International FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup scheduled to be held in Romania and Italy on July 20.
Anissa Nabi, Chief Sports Officer, Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council flagged off the gymnasts to represent Union Territory on the international stage. The event was graced by several dignitaries including Sat Pal, Divisional Sports Officer J&K Sports Council; Er. Kiran Wattal, President of the Gymnastics Association of J&K; Anil Khajuria, Senior Vice President and General Secretary; Rakesh Malhotra, Treasurer; Tajinder Singh, Associated Secretary; Sunil Sharma, Chairman of the Discipline Committee; Rajan Sharma, Chairman of the Activity Committee; Satyam Gupta, President Jammu District; Adv. Annesh Chaterji, Secretary Jammu District; Swarn Singh, President Udhampur District; Raj Kumar Bucha, Secretary Udhampur District and Adv. Y.C. Katoch, President Kathua District. Other dignitaries and officials also extended their best wishes and support to the athletes.
Kiran Wattal highlighted that Vaibhavi Sharma will compete in Romania while Muskan Rana will participate in Milan, Italy. Both athletes have previously represented J&K in international competitions, bringing laurels to the region. Wattal expressed gratitude towards Nuzhat Gul, Secretary J&K Sports Council; Satish Sharma, Minister of Sports, J&K and especially Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of J&K, for their unwavering support in promoting gymnastics and providing necessary facilities.
Wattal conveyed confidence in the gymnasts’ abilities to excel on the international platform, noting their talent, dedication, and rigorous training.
