Construction of Rs 48-crore Rego Bridge likely to be finished by March next year
Dr Ajay Gupta, MLA from the Central Assembly Constituency, inspected the ongoing construction of the Rego Bridge along with senior officials today. During the inspection, Dr Gupta underscored the importance of completing the project on schedule, emphasising the significant benefits it will bring to the residents of the city.
Officials present at the site informed that the bridge is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 48 crore. The work order was issued to the construction company in December 2023, with an initial completion timeline of two years. However, the officials apprised Dr Gupta that, given the current pace of work, the bridge is now expected to be completed by March 31, 2026.
Expressing concern over the delay, Dr Gupta urged the officials of the construction company and the Railway Board to expedite the pace of work. He noted that the bridge will serve thousands of commuters, particularly those visiting Sri Durgiana Temple and Qila Gobindgarh.
The Rego Bridge is anticipated to reduce traffic congestion and offer greater convenience to daily commuters. Additional Deputy Commissioner Amandeep Kaur directed that a monthly progress report be submitted to the Deputy Commissioner’s office for regular review. She also stressed the need to complete the project at the earliest.
