Why did the rule have to be changed?

This change by the Railways will ensure that the Tatkal ticket booking is done by the same user whose Aadhaar number is registered. Aadhaar OTP authentication will work like this
Ticket booking will be very easy due to this process started by the railways to curb the fraud of Tatkal tickets. Actually, when the user books Tatkal ticket from IRCTC account linked to Aadhaar card, then in this process a one time password i.e. OTP will come on the registered mobile number of that user along with Aadhaar. Your ticket booking will be confirmed only after submitting it. Not only in online ticket booking, but now Aadhaar and OTP will be required even for booking Tatkal ticket from the counter.
This rule of 30 minutes also applies
Another special change in the rule change made by Indian Railways to easily get Tatkal tickets for common passengers is that now only Aadhaar authenticated common users will be allowed for AC and Non-AC for the first 30 minutes of opening of Tatkal ticket booking window, while agents will be able to do booking after that. It is worth noting that Tatkal booking for AC class starts at 10 am and for non-AC at 11 am and this change will make it easier for common passengers to get Tatkal tickets.
