Luka Modric has officially joined AC Milan on a free transfer, signing a contract that runs until June 2026. The deal also includes an option for the Italian club to extend it by one more year. Modric confirmed back in May that he would leave Madrid after the Club World Cup in the United States.
According to reports, Milan new coach Massimiliano Allegri reportedly called former Madrid and Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti to ask about Modric's form. Then new Milan sporting director Igli Tare traveled to Croatia's training camp last month to seal the deal with Modric.
Modric in his first message not only spoke about being happy on joining the club but also addresed the fans with a message stating that he is eager to give happy memories.

Modric expressed excitement about the move, saying he was happy to begin a new chapter in his career. The move to Milan is particularly special for him, as he grew up supporting the club thanks to his childhood idol and fellow Croatian, Zvonimir Boban, who played for Milan in the 1990s.
The Croatian will wear number 14 shirt for AC Milan and will work under coach Allegri, who returned to manage the club after they finished eighth in Serie A last season and missed out on European football. Allegri, who previously won the league with Milan in 2011 and later guided Juventus to multiple titles
Luka Modric's Real Madrid career
The 39-year-old Croatian midfielder ends a remarkable 13-year career at Real Madrid, where he became the most decorated player in the club’s history.
During his time at Real Madrid, Modric won an incredible 28 trophies, including six Champions League titles, four La Liga titles, six Club World Cups, and five Spanish Super Cups. Since joining from Tottenham in 2012, he made 597 appearances for Madrid and scored 43 goals. During his time at Madrid he won the Ballon d’Or in 2018.
His final game for the Spanish side was a 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinals of that tournament.
