WATCH: Shubhanshu Shukla’s Mother Turns Emotional After Splashdown, ‘My Son Has Safely Returned’

shuMoments after the safe return of Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla and the Axiom-4 crew from the International Space Station, emotions ran high back home. Shukla’s mother, Asha Shukla, was in tears as she reacted to the news of her son's successful splashdown in the Pacific Ocean.

“My son has safely returned, I thank god, you all who have covered the event. I got emotional, after all, my son has returned after many days,” she told reporters.

The Dragon spacecraft is currently being secured and will soon be lifted onto the recovery ship, after which the astronauts will disembark.

Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla is set to exit the Dragon spacecraft shortly, experiencing Earth's gravity for the first time in 18 days.
